Academic and Intrafamilial Success

About Our Program:

The Academic and Intrafamilial Success (AIS) program is open to youths who are:

  • 16 to 21 years old

  • interested in graduating high school

Youths who have already dropped out of school are welcome.

The AIS team believes that a stable life outside of school provide the psychological safety necessary to concentrate on learning. Personal counselling provides a support network to guide youths through to graduation.

John Heckbert

Executive Director, Operation Come Home

Throughout his career, John has worked exclusively within non-profit organizations, and has been active with Ottawa-based social service organizations for the past 11 years. In that time, John has served as a staff member, a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, a member of non-profit boards, and a public spokesperson for project step, an organization that works to prevent harms to youth from substance use.

Through Operation Come Home, John works with a team of social workers and educators that provide programming to youth who are experiencing homelessness, helping them achieve goals such as: completing high-school, securing housing and employment, and accessing supports for mental health and addictions.
