Academic and Intrafamilial Success

About Our Program:

Open to 16-21 year old youths who are:

  • interested in graduating high school

and

  • in school, at risk of leaving

or

  • out of school, interested in returning

The Academic and Intrafamilial Success (AIS) team believes that stable relationships at home provide the psychological safety necessary to concentrate on learning.

Our mission is to create partnerships to mitigate the responsibility of school staff to address students’ personal challenges. As an intermediary between schools and families, the program aims to keep students in school through counselling, skills building, and referrals.

The AIS Program provides:

  • Needs assessments and planning tailored to each individual youth and family to reach their own goals

  • Counselling and motivational interviewing until one year after high school graduation

  • Help with applications to post-secondary school, OSAP, and many other government grants

  • Life skills to build better relationships at home and within the community

  • Direct referrals to Operation Come Home programs and other local service providers

  • Accommodations for students with disabilities

  • Supportive discharge plans and warm transfers to other community programs
