Six
Pillars
The six pillars of programming are based on unique, best
practice and innovative approaches to providing at risk
and homeless youth with opportuntities to become contributing
membes of our community. The strategic plan outlines the
current programming needs for youth in the city of Ottawa
and nationally. The majority of the youth that gain access
to Operation Come Home locally are those that cannot return
home due to reasons such as family violence, sexual and
physical abuse, addictions, mental health and an inability
for youth to adhere to family guidelines. Five of the
six pillars provide youth in Ottawa with opportunities
for furthering their education, employment, and housing
options. Every year, an increasing number of youth gain
access to our menu of programs. Operation Come Home is
often the last resort for many youth who have not been
successful in mainstream, traditional programming. The
youth describe Operation Come Home as a safe place where
they feel comfortable with programming choices that are
not available in other organizations both locally and
nationally.
